The Budget Marine Group is delighted to announce the renewal of their title sponsorship contract with the Spice Island Billfish Tournament Committee. The Budget Marine Spice Island Billfish Tournament is the largest and longest running billfish tournament in the Southern Caribbean. The strategic partnership between Budget Marine, the largest chandlery chain in the Caribbean with 13 locations in the region, and this Tournament started in 2011 and was specifically designed to further raise the profile of the tournament and Grenada as a sports fishing destination.
The renewal as Title Sponsor for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 shows the commitment of Budget Marine to this very dynamic growing event and as a result, the improvement of the tourism product that Grenada has to offer. Great bonds have been formed locally, regionally and internationally because of Budget Marines’ role. With the 50thyear of this event approaching the Budget Marine Group is now more than ever delighted to be a part of and assist in the putting together of such a prestigious event.
Manager of Budget Marine Grenada, Nicholas George reports: ‘Good partnerships always result in growth. We feel fortunate and blessed to be able to work alongside a passionate volunteer committee that works very hard to ensure there is improvement year after year. Along with the support of other sponsors and the Government of Grenada the Tournament has seen commendable growth in terms of boat numbers and participants. In 2016 we saw 50 boats, 245 participating anglers and 145 releases, the most ever recorded at this event! We will like to see that continue steadfastly forward and are more than willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the growth of the event continues on that upward trajectory.’
