The Course de L’Alliance was the first post-Irma regatta in the Caribbean to continue the spirit even with a very reduced five-strong fleet.
The Regatta kicked off with registration and the skipper’s briefing at the Yacht Club on Thursday evening and raced their first leg towards St. Barths on Friday morning where Team Gill set the tone by taking honors on day one.
The second day the race started off with a nice breeze but lighter winds and rain showers developed coming around St. Maarten. In this second day the fleet raced to Sandy Ground, Anguilla whereSail SXM – Island Waterworld Too took the first prize and the night was closed off with the tunes of a live band from Anguilla.
Team Island Water World took the lead from the start of the final day of racing, as the fleet left Anguilla with medium winds back to St. Maarten. Overall score showedGill Race team, skippered by Gill North America’s President David Pritchard, who came over from Atlanta to enjoy the weekend, as the winner ofthe fourteenth edition of this course de L’Alliance Regatta.
The St. Maarten Yacht Club Bar & Restaurant hosted the final prize giving, with prizes being sponsored by Bobby’s Marina and Budget Marine.
