We felt it was high time we published a staff profile of the manager of the recently expanded Nanny Cay Budget Marine location, so here it is:
Vivacious Theresea Williams – mother of three, gym fiend, cancer survivor – is the manager of our Budget Marine store in Tortola.
Theresa moved to the British Virgin Islands from Montserrat when she was ten years old and these islands have been her home ever since. She entered the retail industry after graduating from Elmore Stout High School in 1991, working in the accounts departments of Clarence Christian and Bobby’s Supermarket before leaving Road Town for Nanny Cay, where she joined Offshore Sail & Motor Yachts.
In 1996, Theresa joined Nanny Cay as an accounts receivable clerk and in 2004 was given the task of running the new Budget Marine store. Over the last 10 years, the chandlery has gone from strength to strength, doubling in size and moving to new premises last Summer.
Her goals? ‘I want to keep growing, keep getting better,’ she said.
When Theresa is not at work she’s either with her family, at the gym, or reading the latest James Patterson novel on the beach. Two of her children – Sheniece, 24, and Dequan, 20 – have left the nest, but 12 year old Aaron Williams III, can often be seen at Nanny Cay, with either Theresa or father Aaron Williams II, one of Nanny Cay’s Travelift operators. Theresa and Aaron have been married for 15 years after meeting when she fell down the stairs.
Diagnosed and successfully treated for breast cancer three years ago, Theresa now lives life to the fullest. ‘I’m the happiest I’ve ever been now. I love my family, I love my friends, I love my job.’
