Crossing for Hope is an ambitious initiative by 5 swimmers in the local community of Aruba wanting to contribute to a bigger cause. The swimmers will aim to swim from Venezuela to Aruba (approx. 28.5km) to collect funds and generate awareness for ‘Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds’, a local non-profit organization that offers support to cancer patients and works for the prevention of this unfortunate disease. They are following in the footsteps of the founder and coach of Aruba Dolphins Swimming organization, who was the first person to swim from Venezuela to Aruba in 1988, exactly 30 years ago. The Crossing for Hope event is scheduled to take place on November 11th2018 starting at 6 am in Piedras Negras in Falcon State, Venezuela to Aruba and is expected to last between nine and twelve hours of swimming.

The team of five swimmers consists of Deaxo Croes, Gwendolin Kock, Romar Arendsz, Davy Bisslik and Stephan Thijsen. We believe it is a great example to pursue and achieve this ambitious goal, which is why Budget Marine is sponsoring one of the swimmers Deaxo Croes who will have a support team of 5 boats and approximately 25 swimmers to provide support. Keep an eye on this event through our Aruba facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/BudgetMarineAruba/
To further support the initiative all our Budget Marine locations are participating in a Give 5 event where we ask all our customers to donate 5 US$, ECD, TT$. ANG depending on our location, from November 1stto November 11th, so we can collect more funds for the cancer foundations. In Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and St.Maarten this is the Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds, in Antigua its Breast Friends, in Grenada it’s the Pink Ribbon Society and in Trinidad we will be collecting for the Just because Foundation.
