The Budget Marine Wahoo Tournament was again part of the 48th International Sailing Regatta in Bonaire. Oddly, this year, a wide variety of fish were caught, but only one Wahoo was brought in to the scales! The winner of largest and most fish was awarded to Fish Tales a 30 ft Pursuit 3000 offshore, which is a local charter boat, for this one fish! Yuri van Kampen owner / captain of Fish Tales and first mate Fabian each have more than 15 years fishing in Bonaire waters. Once done fishing, all of the boats tied on a line, stern in to the shore, the boat party started along the shore to enjoy the music and party from the beach.
This yearly fishing event is intended to be a fun event with very few rules, boats may decide to come from Curacao or Aruba or any port and enjoy a two for one, by fishing on their way here and enjoying the boat party once they arrive. The fishermen get to keep their catch so they can either sell it or have a nice Sushi or BBQ at the party!
