During October, Trinidad experienced the worst flooding in 40 years, with people in the southern parts the most affected. Main roadways were cut off and many homes flooded. Budget Marine Trinidad promptly came forward to help, partnering with the office of the ODPM, the company donated a 9.5FT AB Dinghy and loaned a second Dinghy & Engine to aid in flood rescue efforts, with transportation provided by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
Support also came from the cruising community and members of the sailing association that loaned dinghies, outboards, life jackets and handheld radios and gave food, clothing and rescue assistance. A fuller account can be seen in the clipping below from the November Caribbean Compass.
