Exciting Finish at the Sint Maarten Budget Marine Optimist Championship – November 27 to 30 2025
The 2025 Sint Maarten Budget Marine Optimist Championship wrapped up in spectacular fashion on Simpson Bay, with three thrilling final races held on Sunday, November 30th. With many sailors neck-and-neck in the standings, every race counted—and the competition delivered.
Both the Championship and Green fleets saw tight racing, with sailors pushing hard on every start and every leg. Race Officer Mathieu Maudet set challenging courses, including longer legs that tested endurance and tactics, and one shorter course that brought the fleet back smoothly to the bridge.
The action on the water kept spectators on edge, with podium positions decided right up to the final reach or windward leg. It was everything a final regatta day should be—competitive, intense, and full of sportsmanship.
After racing, sailors gathered at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club to share stories and celebrate a successful weekend. A big thank you to title sponsor Budget Marine, all volunteers, coaches, race officers, and the Yacht Club team for making this event such a success.
