We are delighted to celebrate the 4th anniversary of Budget Marine Carriacou. The expansion of the Budget Marine footprint in this territory, where smaller scale is more common, stands out particularly because of the surrounding location and the circumstances that prevail in Carriacou.
Tyrell Bay is the center of yachting in Carriacou, an island that is different to most. The large anchorage at Tyrell Bay, together with a range of services, has led to a constant yachting population who clearly enjoy all the circumstances of this island and its major anchorage. Added to the mix are a long-standing maritime tradition and an openness to this economic model.
Approximately 6 years ago the idea of a store was discussed with Tyrell Bay Marina owners and in January 2020 Budget Marine opened for business, providing much needed product to visiting cruisers and local boat builders. Local staff were hired and trained, and a strong bond was formed with Tyrell Bay Marina, which is where the journey started. The store has become the “go to” place when anything marine is needed on the island. Proximity to the Grenadines makes it the perfect stop before and after cruising Grenadine waters, and a fast transport service between Grenada and Carriacou facilitates consistent supply.
We would like to thank the cruising community for their support and the people of Carriacou for accepting us wholeheartedly. Being part of this economic hub is something Budget Marine is proud of, and we look forward to many more years of serving!
