How to choose an Anchor

Choosing an anchor may well be a tough choice. Do you make the decision on the basis of advice at the bar?  We don’t have the full answer to this question but we can point to two definite things to look for.

Do not choose an anchor where the components are held together with a stainless bolt. Proven experience in the Caribbean is that the bolt can (and does) suffer from electrolysis and the functioning of such an anchor ends very quickly. Happened to this author. Instead choose a fully welded anchor which would allow you to see any such deterioration which in any event is unlikely because all metals are the same.

Choose an anchor that has a Lloyds type certification for HHP. (High Holding Power)  That choice will ensure that you are in the right design ballpark.
