Product Information

Discover the next-generation solution for marine projects with Supersede Marine Board, a cutting-edge, waterproof structural alternative to traditional marine plywood. Designed with precision and engineered for superior performance, our Marine Board offers a reliable and eco
conscious choice for marine construction.

Impact Resistance – Supersede is glass reinforced, giving it excellent impact resistance and toughness. PVC can become more brittle over time, particularly after prolonged UV exposure, and is generally more susceptible to cracking under impact.

Thermal Expansion – PVC typically has a significantly higher coefficient of thermal expansion than our reinforced polypropylene. In outdoor applications with large temperature swings, PVC will generally move more, making fastening and dimensional stability more challenging.

Strength & Stiffness – The fiberglass reinforcement in Supersede provides higher stiffness and improved screw retention, making it better suited for structural applications such as decking, flooring, and load-bearing panels.

Weight – Depending on the specific PVC formulation, Supersede is often lighter while maintaining comparable or greater structural performance.

Moisture Resistance – Both materials are waterproof and rot-proof, making either suitable for wet environments.

UV Performance – Neither PVC nor polypropylene is inherently UV stable, so both rely on UV stabilizers. However, prolonged UV exposure tends to embrittle PVC over time, whereas reinforced polypropylene generally retains its toughness better. Also, we are incorporating carbon black pigment in our board which introduces further UV stability, making it even more robust in the island environment.

Sustainability – Supersede is manufactured from recycled polypropylene and is fully recyclable at the end of its service life. PVC is more difficult to recycle and has a different environmental profile.

Ultimately, the biggest distinction is that Supersede was engineered as a structural marine and transportation panel, whereas many PVC sheet products are intended primarily for trim, cabinetry, signage, or general fabrication rather than replacing structural plywood.
