Hydraulic steering systems use fluid to transmit force from the helm to the motors or rudders. Always check with the manufacturer for the recommended fluid. Hydraulic systems are usually used in preference to cable steering because there are no limitations to hose length (long cable runs increase friction). You also have smoother control and no feed-back as well as obviously more available force.
