Laser donated to Anguilla Youth Sailing Association

One of the most popular single-handed dinghies in the world, with more than 200,000 boats worldwide, the robust, simple to rig Laser provides very competitive racing due to tight class association controls. It is often the next step for keen young sailors who have outgrown their Optimist and Sunfish dinghies. As such, Robbie Ferron’s donation of his Laser to the Anguilla Youth Sailing Club (AYSC) is a valuable contribution to this non-profit organization, which strives to provide the youth of Anguilla with a sport that encourages them to learn, compete and grow.

If Robbie’s Laser could tell tales, it would be an interesting saga of tacking through tough waves, flying downwind, turning upside down, trying to outwit the competition with tricky tactics in light conditions, but most of all it would speak of the lifelong pleasure of being out on the water and learning to depend on yourself.

Anette Hibbert, Sailing Director of the AYSC is all smiles as Robbie hands over his Laser, which will now take on a new life teaching young people to lift their sailing skills to the next level during after school training sessions, regattas and the Summer Sailing Camps scheduled to start in June.
